چکیده
12 We discuss the use of resonant photoemission in the study of rare earth/transition metal perovskites and perovskite-related structures. We illustrate its application to the assignment of the RE and TM valence band density of states in Nd2Ni1−xCuxO4 and REBaCo2O5+δ. In both cases, the relative positions of the 4f and 3d contributions within the valence band density of states (DOS) relative to the Fermi energy p p C i 13

Investigation of effect of magnetic ordering on structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) using ab initio method
Structural and electronic properties of double perovskites Sr2BWO6 (B = Co, Ni, Cu) were studied for each of three magnetic configurations nonmagnetic, ferromagnetic, and antiferromagnetic by using density functional theory in generalized gradient approximations (GGA) and strong correlation correction (GGA + U). Due to magnetic transition from antiferromagnetic to nonmagnetic phase, an electr...
متن کاملResonant photoemission of single-crystal RBaCo2O5+d (R=Gd, Dy)
Resonant photoemission of single crystals of the double perovskites GdBaCo2O5+d and DyBaCo2O5+d has been carried out at the UK Synchrotron Radiation Source at Daresbury. The resonance onset energy at the Co 3p→3d threshold is used to explore the Co spin state in the double perovskites as a function of temperature. In contrast with the simple perovskites LaCoO3 and HoCoO3, an undelayed resonance...
متن کاملMott transition and suppression of orbital fluctuations in orthorhombic 3d1 perovskites.
Using t(2g) Wannier functions, a low-energy Hamiltonian is derived for orthorhombic 3d(1) transition-metal oxides. Electronic correlations are treated with a new implementation of dynamical mean-field theory for noncubic systems. Good agreement with photoemission data is obtained. The interplay of correlation effects and cation covalency (GdFeO3-type distortions) is found to suppress orbital fl...
متن کاملResonant x-ray scattering in 3d-transition-metal oxides: Anisotropy and charge orderings
The structural, magnetic and electronic properties of transition metal oxides reflect in atomic charge, spin and orbital degrees of freedom. Resonant x-ray scattering (RXS) allows us to perform an accurate investigation of all these electronic degrees. RXS combines high-Q resolution x-ray diffraction with the properties of the resonance providing information similar to that obtained by atomic s...
متن کاملHigh-pressure / High-temperature Synthesis of Transition Metal Oxide Perovskites
Perovskite and related Ruddlesden-Popper type transition metal oxides synthesised at high pressures and temperatures during the last decade are reviewed. More than 60 such new materials have been reported since 1995. Important developments have included perovskites with complex cation orderings on A and B sites, multiferroic bismuth-based perovskites, and new manganites showing colossal magneto...
